326 – Second Life

Today’s track is a bit of a wailer if I’m going to be totally honest with you. There’s a section that really only a Vogon would love. Now that I come to think of it, perhaps that is who my target audience is! Anyway, I had much fun annoying the neighbours with this track so I thought I’d share the love and so you, too, can now annoy your neighbours by playing this really loud! (Of course, just remember not to expose your own ear drums!). ™

314 – June 8th

This song has been haunting me for months. It’s a mash between two songs – the start/ending began on piano and morphed in to what you hear now. I think I’m getting further from achieving my goal of the perfect song and closer to just making songs for fun – you never know maybe fun and perfect intersect somewhere down the line™

321 – Lakewood Girl

This one came out sounding a bit britpop so for any chance of commercial success I should have released it at least 25 years ago. Does this mean I am only 25 years behind modern music!? May have to take the time machine for a spin again. This track was written for the bass player of a band I play with. The plan is for my wife to sing it (hence all the references to “my husband” which sounds a bit quirky coming from me). Anyway, this ones for you Cris! Enjoy.

310 – Living on the Lake

Well. What can I say about this track that hasn’t already been written. Yes. It’s stellar. From the first whistling firework to the mispronunciation of the word ‘Minnesotoe.’ It obviously stands (i.e. it has legs) to reason that this remarkable song (coming in at under 2 minutes) (Ed- one suspects this is because of the restrictions based on free Soundcloud accounts) will hold a place in the modern pantheon…somewhere near the bottom.

Probably because of the legs.™

307 – I’m trying to see round my glasses

It’s been a couple of months since my last post – time seems to speed up the older I get and it becomes more precious as a consequence. I did manage to grab a few zeptoseconds here and there to create the subject of today’s post, the song, aptly titled, “I’m trying to see round my glasses.” It starts lazily and builds to a more rocky section which, in hindsight, is reminiscent of The Cranberries, “Zombie” chorus. I say reminiscent because the singing is not of quite the same caliber as Dolores O’Riordan.

I’m not good enough to play the drums with the energy I wanted in the chorus so I used some digital tinkering – see if you can hear (/joke!) the bonkers drumming. Oh, another announcement – this is the first time I’ve used my own personal musical instrument in a song – see if you can identify it! TM
